MINISTER SUHARSO SAID INDONESIA'S ECONOMY WOULD REBOYND IN THE SECOND QUARTER OF 2021

JAKARTA, Nuswantoro Pos - Minister of National Development Planning attends the Budget Board Work Meeting with the Preliminary Discussion of 2022 RAPBN and 2022 RKP, at the DPR RI Building, Monday, (May 31st, 2021).

After attending the meeting, Minister said China's economy had recovered since the second quarter of 2020, along with the control of Covid-19, meanwhile the United States economy began to appear to recover in the first quarter of 2021, with the control of Covid-19 cases due to massive vaccinations.

"Currently, Covid-19 case in Indonesia is in a downward trend, but it is necessary to be aware of the risk of increasing post-Eid, it is necessary to carry out massive testing in anticipating the backflow of homecoming and holidays after Idul Fitri, given the relatively high national and Java positivity rates," Said the Minister.

The minister added that the Indonesian economy is expected to start rebounding in the second quarter of 2021, provided that the Covid-19 case can continue to be well controlled.

In addition to discussing Indonesia's economic outlook in 2021, the Minister also presented a number of development targets, including the target of reducing Greenhouse Gases, the target of increasing the Exchange Rate of Farmers in 2022 and the target of increasing the Exchange Rate of Fishermen in 2022.

The target of reducing greenhouse gas emissions in 2022 is 26.87%, the Minister explained that economic and social activities are expected to revive. This then affects the rate of increasing GHG emissions which is quite significant in 2022. Low carbon development actions, such as reforestation, peat restoration, and renewable energy development and energy efficiency, need to be continuously improved in order to achieve a transformation towards a more environmentally friendly green economy.

Furthermore, the Farmer Exchange Rate in 2022 is targeted at 102–104. With this NTP value, it shows a stable welfare.

The policy to maintain NTP is carried out by guaranteeing the availability of agricultural inputs, the formation of farmer and fishermen corporations, food production centers (food estate, development of digital agriculture-based food production centers, efficiency of food distribution through strengthening production connectivity (farming roads) and a food logistics system, accelerating the transformation of agricultural e-commerce platforms / online supply chains, and primary processing of food and agricultural production.

In addition, the Minister said that the target of Fishermen Exchange Rate in 2022 is 102-105. Efforts to increase fishery business activities in order to increase NTN are carried out by increasing the production and productivity of marine and fisheries through the provision of facilities and infrastructure for fisheries business actors as well as digitizing marine and fisheries businesses, strengthening supply chains of fishery products, developing marine and fishery production centers through village development. fishery villages, strengthening fishery business actors institutions, protection for fishery business actors, as well as assistance and counseling.
